At least 25 people have died in the US due to the abnormal heat.

The largest number of victims was recorded in New Jersey, where the number of deaths rose to 22. Another heat-related fatality was registered in Illinois and two in Mississippi, the channel clarifies. Many of the deceased were found in homes without air conditioning, and some on the street or in parked cars.
The abnormal heat affected Independence Day celebrations in Washington. Some participants in the festivities on the National Mall required medical assistance.
