In Baku at the initiative of BIG an international conference on the role of media in decolonization processes is taking place
In the capital of Azerbaijan at the initiative of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) the international conference “Media and decolonization: rising voices, strengthening narratives” is taking place.
This is the first such conference in Azerbaijan, which has brought together media representatives from colonial territories. The event is being held in an interactive format with the participation of foreign and Azerbaijani journalists.
The conference is attended by heads of media structures, journalists, political commentators, researchers, experts, diplomats, representatives of state bodies, civil society institutions and diaspora organizations.
During the event, participants plan to discuss the role of the media in decolonization processes, the specifics of covering the situation in colonial territories, countering disinformation using artificial intelligence, and prospects for developing cooperation between international and local media.
In addition, participants will consider issues of documenting colonial crimes, human rights violations, ensuring environmental justice and strengthening international interaction between journalists and human rights defenders.
