Star of 'Jurassic Park' Sam Neill dies - video
New Zealand actor Sam Neill, who gained worldwide fame thanks to his role as Dr. Alan Grant in the film "Jurassic Park," has died at the age of 78.
The actor's family announced his death – the statement notes that Sam Neill died on July 13 in Sydney surrounded by loved ones. His passing was described as sudden and unexpected. At the same time, relatives emphasized that at the time of his death the actor was in remission after battling cancer.
In 2023, Sam Neill revealed that he was fighting angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma, a rare form of blood cancer. After several years of treatment this spring the actor announced that the disease had receded.
Over more than five decades of his career, Sam Neill appeared in more than 150 films and series. In addition to the iconic "Jurassic Park" franchise, audiences remember him from films such as "The Piano," "The Hunt for Red October," "Event Horizon," as well as the series "Peaky Blinders" and "The Tudors."
