Regular direct flights between Cairo and Baku may be launched
Regular direct flights between Cairo and Baku may be launched in the near future.
As Report reports, this was stated by Egyptian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Husameddin Effat Mustafa Reda at a reception marking the 74th anniversary of Egypt's National Day.
"I hope and am almost certain that our common aspirations to launch regular direct air service between Cairo and Baku will soon come to fruition. This will become an important foundation for the further development of bilateral relations," the diplomat noted.
According to him, the opening of direct air service will contribute to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the areas of tourism, trade, culture, and business ties.
The ambassador also reported that Egypt continues to work to make the country more accessible to Azerbaijani citizens. Currently, Azerbaijani citizens can obtain a visa on arrival at all entry points to Egypt, not only in Sharm el-Sheikh.
At the same time, the diplomat expressed hope that similar visa relaxations will be provided in the future to Egyptian citizens visiting Azerbaijan.
Speaking about humanitarian cooperation, Husameddin Effat Mustafa Reda noted that many Azerbaijanis have heard of Egypt but do not know the country well enough. In this regard, the ambassador reported the launch of a large-scale program to popularize Egypt through the embassy and cultural center, which will cover various aspects of the country's life.
"I hope that by the end of my stay in Baku, our peoples will know each other much better. I am deeply convinced that the exchange of knowledge is a necessary condition for successful business and joint prosperity," the diplomat emphasized.
He also noted the great interest of the Azerbaijani public in the live broadcast of the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which took place in November last year at the Heydar Aliyev Center. According to him, holding the event was made possible thanks to the support of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the assistance of Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
