Baku enters top 100 best student cities in the world - photo
The city of Baku has entered the top hundred of the Best Student Cities 2026 ranking (Best Student Cities in the World), annually compiled by one of the most authoritative international ranking organizations in the field of education - Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).
As 1news.az reports with reference to the State Agency for Science and Higher Education, in the ranking covering 150 cities of the world, the capital of Azerbaijan rose immediately by 22 positions compared to last year and took 95th place.
Baku shared this position with the British Aberdeen, the Chinese Guangzhou and the South African Johannesburg.
According to the results of the study, Baku showed the best result among the cities of the South Caucasus, becoming the regional leader. In addition, the Azerbaijani capital outperformed a number of the largest cities in Central Asia. Thus, Astana took 119th place, Bishkek - 137th, and Tashkent - 146th.
The QS Best Student Cities ranking evaluates cities by the level of attractiveness for obtaining higher education and the comfort of student life. When compiling the ranking, the positions of universities located in the city in the QS World University Rankings, employment opportunities for graduates, the level of safety and quality of life, the affordability of tuition and living costs, the number and diversity of international students, as well as reviews from students themselves who studied in these cities are taken into account.
