Verdict announced for individuals who attempted to hold a march with USSR flags
The trial in the case of Abdulla Ibrahimli, Ibrahim Asadli, Elchin Bayramli, and Mehman Zeynalov, who attempted to hold a march with USSR flags for the purpose of propagating communist ideology, has concluded.
As APA reports, at the hearing in the Nizami District Court the verdict was announced, according to which Ibrahim Asadli was sentenced to 2 years of imprisonment, Abdulla Ibrahimli — to 2 years, Elchin Bayramli — to 1.5 years, and Mehman Zeynalov — to 1.5 years.
To recall, videos were circulated on social media showing a group of individuals attempting to hold a march with USSR flags for the purpose of propagating communist ideology. As a result of measures carried out by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the organizers of the march — Abdulla Ibrahimli, Ibrahim Asadli — as well as other participants in the action were identified and detained, and a criminal case was initiated against them.
The investigation established that these individuals rented an office and acted as a group with the support and using the funds of another state, and also periodically held meetings.
They were charged under Article 233 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
