Participant in assassination attempt on Erdogan detained in Turkey after 10 years

Burkay Karatepe, a member of the FETÖ organization who was wanted in connection with his participation in the assassination attempt on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the attempted coup on July 15, 2016, has been detained.

Karatepe was detained in the city of Afyonkarahisar. After the completion of the necessary procedures, officers of the counterterrorism department took him to Mugla, TRT Haber reports.

After he gave testimony at the prosecutor's office, the court ordered him to be placed under arrest as a pretrial measure.
