Russia declares dramatic drop in trade turnover with Armenia

Trade turnover between Russia and Armenia is shrinking dramatically; in 2026 this indicator fell by two-thirds compared to last year and will continue to decline.

This was stated to journalists by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, Sputnik Armenia reports.

"The situation that is developing in relations between the EAEU and Armenia was predictable. Over the past 3-4 years we have been telling our colleagues in Armenia that such risks exist, in particular, the risks of a reduction in trade turnover," the deputy head of the Russian government pointed out.

In 2024, trade turnover between Russia and Armenia reached a record figure — about $12 billion, which is a huge number. Last year it fell to around $8 billion.

"This year there is a dramatic fall in trade turnover — it has decreased by approximately two-thirds compared to 2025. The situation is such that, obviously, it will continue to decline further," Overchuk stated.

Earlier, the Statistical Committee of Armenia reported that Armenia's trade turnover with Russia in the first 5 months of 2026 decreased by approximately $567 million — from $2 billion 763 million to $2 billion 196 million.
