Son-in-law of Gagik Tsarukyan detained on charges of ordering murder
In Armenia, the son of former Prime Minister Ovik Abrahamyan, Argam Abrahamyan, has been detained.
He is the son-in-law of Prosperous Armenia party leader Gagik Tsarukyan.
Earlier, the Investigative Committee of Armenia reported that as a result of the preliminary investigation into the criminal case conducted by the department for the investigation of serious crimes of the investigative department of the city of Yerevan of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia, as well as operational-search measures carried out by employees of the NSS of the Republic of Armenia, obvious factual data were obtained that the murder of S.V., committed on April 30, 2023, at the entrance to one of the houses on Myasnikyan Avenue in Yerevan, was ordered by the former head of the Artashat community, ex-deputy of the National Assembly A.A.
In particular, as a result of planned, comprehensive investigative and procedural actions, it was established that A.A., suspecting his wife E.Ts. of having a personal relationship with the spiritual pastor S.V., a member of the religious organization "Christians of the Evangelical Faith," as well as of transferring large sums of money to him, out of revenge intended to deprive S.V. of his life, but decided to carry out his criminal intent not personally, but through a person devoted to him — his security service employee G.Kh., who was in financial and personal dependence on him.
Then A.A., using his influence on G.Kh., as well as his loyalty and readiness to serve him, by giving an order, incited him to deprive S.V. of his life.
Having accepted the order given by A.A. as a contract, G.Kh. on April 30, 2023, in front of the residential building at Myasnikyan 2 in Yerevan, using a firearm, killed S.V.
During the preliminary investigation into the criminal case, on the basis of the investigator's petition, by decision of the supervising prosecutor, public criminal prosecution was initiated against A.A. under point 11 of part 2 of article 46-155 of the Criminal Code (incitement to commit murder for hire).
On August 8, 2026, on the basis of the investigator's decision, employees of the NSS of the Republic of Armenia detained A.A. in order to bring him to court for the application of a preventive measure in the form of arrest against him.
