Opposition member becomes vice speaker of Armenia's parliament

Aram Vardevanyan, a deputy from the opposition faction "Strong Armenia," has been elected third vice speaker of the National Assembly under the quota.

His candidacy was supported by 53 deputies, including some representatives of the ruling "Civil Contract," as the head of the faction, Arusyak Manavazyan, had stated earlier. No one voted against.

Last week, the vice speakers from "Civil Contract" — Hayk Konjoryan and Vahagn Aleksanyan — were elected.

Earlier, Ruben Rubinyan, a member of the ruling party, became the speaker of parliament.
