Iran's Foreign Ministry reacts to the signing of an agreement between Riyadh, Ankara, and Islamabad
The signing of an agreement between Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia signals a change in how regional countries perceive the situation in the Middle East.
This was stated by the official spokesman of the Foreign Ministry of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Esmail Baghaei, at a press conference.
"It can be said that this testifies to a change in these countries' perception of the region. The countries of the region, taking into account the events of the past two or three years, have realized that security is not a commodity that can be bought from deceitful intermediaries," the Iranian diplomat said.
According to Baghaei, Iran's policy consists of encouraging cooperation and strengthening mutual trust among the countries of the region in order to ensure their own security without relying on external players.
On August 7, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan concluded a pact on the creation of a military alliance. This agreement stipulates that an armed attack on any of the three parties will be regarded as an attack on all of them. Ankara and Islamabad have not yet commented on what happened.
