Number of earthquake victims in Venezuela exceeds 6,300
The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela has reached 6,301 people.
As 1news.az reports, this was stated in a weekly bulletin published on the Telegram channel of the President of Venezuela's National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez.
According to the data, 6,462 people were rescued during search and rescue operations, and another 73,356 people received medical assistance. Those left without housing were given 287 homes, and 53,314 damaged structures were inspected and assessed.
As a reminder, the earthquake occurred on the evening of June 24. Two tremors with magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5 were recorded about 40 seconds apart. Their epicenters were located 10 km from each other in the state of Yaracuy.
More than 1,500 aftershocks were recorded following the earthquake.
