More than 25 kg of marijuana was smuggled through Azerbaijan disguised as pepper — PHOTO — VIDEO
As a result of a set of operational-search measures and customs control measures carried out by officers of the Astara Customs Department, another large consignment of a narcotic substance — dried marijuana — was discovered and seized from illegal circulation.
At the "Astara" customs post, a vehicle transporting a cargo of "pepper" from Iran to the Russian Federation in transit through the territory of Azerbaijan was subjected to a thorough inspection using a stationary X-ray unit and a service dog of the canine service, 1news.az reports, citing the State Customs Committee.
During the inspection, 55 rectangular packages, disguised as cargo and concealed from customs control, were found in the lower part of the boxes of pepper. They contained a narcotic substance — dried marijuana — with a total net weight of 25 kilograms and 75 grams.
An investigation is being conducted into the incident.
