Trump would like to run for a third presidential term
American leader Donald Trump said he would like to run for a third term as president of the United States, but the country's laws on this are very strict.
"I would like to run, but the law is very strict," he said, answering reporters' questions at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington. In Trump's opinion, "everyone wants" him to do it.
Under the law, Trump's second term as president is supposed to end in January 2029. The 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which was adopted in 1951, limits a president's time in office to two terms. Nevertheless, the current American leader has repeatedly suggested the possibility of seeking reelection for a third term.
Trump won the election for a second time in November 2024. He defeated the Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris. The first time, he led the American administration in 2017-2021.
