Armen Grigoryan turned down a new appointment

Former Secretary of Armenia's Security Council Armen Grigoryan has declined an offer to continue working within the executive branch.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this at a briefing at the government, Armenian media report.

According to the head of the cabinet, the former Security Council secretary was offered a position in the prime minister's office, but he decided to temporarily step away from public service.

"I offered Armen Grigoryan a job in the prime minister's office, but he apparently preferred to take a pause. I treat this with understanding and respect," Pashinyan stated.

As a reminder, former Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Alen Simonyan was today appointed Secretary of Armenia's Security Council.

The corresponding decree was signed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Earlier, at a government session, Pashinyan said that Grigoryan was taking part in it as Security Council secretary for the last time. He had held this position for almost eight years.
