Sadyr Japarov plans to run for a second term

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov intends to take part in the country's presidential election in 2027.

He said this in an interview with journalist Ali Toktakunov.

"I intend to run for another term and continue working," the local outlet 24.kg quoted the president as saying.

Japarov noted that everyone wishing to take part in the election may run. "We will not restrict anyone," the head of state emphasized.

Sadyr Japarov has been president of Kyrgyzstan since January 28, 2021. According to the republic's constitution, a person may be elected head of state twice. The next presidential election will be held on January 27, 2027.
