Iran intends to hold the U.S. and Israel legally accountable

Iran intends to hold the United States and Israel legally accountable for crimes against the republic's citizens.

Iran's ambassador to Thailand, Nasreddin Heydari, said this in an interview with a TASS correspondent. "Protecting Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity, along with defending the inalienable rights of the Iranian people, remains our top priority in countering the aggressors. Going forward, we will seek to establish legal accountability for the crimes committed against Iranian citizens and civilian infrastructure facilities," he said.

"As you recall, the American side has already undermined the diplomatic process during the negotiations at least twice — despite the progress achieved — and unlawfully chose the path of aggression against Iran," the Iranian diplomat added.

The United States and Israel began the war with Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts for 60 days. Then talks between the United States and Iran were held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, mediated by Doha and Islamabad, on implementing the memorandum. However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large-scale strikes on Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements reached with regard to the Strait of Hormuz.
