Indonesia rocked by powerful earthquake: there are fatalities
Five people died as a result of the earthquake in Indonesia.
This was reported by The Straits Times newspaper, citing the governor of East Nusa Tenggara province.
According to her information, five people died under the rubble of collapsed houses.
The magnitude 7.7 earthquake occurred near the coast of Indonesia. The first tremor was followed by strong aftershocks. Residents of the coast of the island of Flores were advised to leave their homes and stay at least 2 km from the shore because of the threat of a tsunami.
On the island, government and residential buildings, schools, medical and religious institutions were damaged, the Jakarta Globe newspaper reports.
