Three Iranian pilots taken prisoner at the start of the war

Three pilots of Iranian Su-24s were captured in Qatar in March after their fighter jets crashed during a combat sortie.

This was reported by the head of the Committee for the Search for Missing Persons of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran, Mohammad Bagherzadeh.

"Three Iranian pilots were taken prisoner by Qatari forces after their Su-24 fighter jets crashed during the attacks in March. Javad Salehi, Abdolmajid Dashtian and Omran Behrouzian have been held captive by the Qatari military for 6 months already, and the government of Qatar has still not given them permission to meet or make contact with their families and the authorized persons handling their case," his statement said.
Bagherzadeh called on the International Committee of the Red Cross to meet with the Iranian pilots in Qatar as soon as possible, to check their state of health and to ensure conditions for their release.
The United States and Israel began the war with Iran on February 28.

In June, Washington and Tehran, through the mediation of Islamabad, signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon. However, on the night of July 8, the United States resumed large-scale strikes on Iran, accusing it of violating the terms of the agreements reached with regard to the Strait of Hormuz.
