U.S. President Donald Trump stated on his social network Truth Social that he is very pleased that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan have concluded the Mecca agreement on joint defense.
According to him, this document indicates the consolidation of countries in the Middle East. The American leader believes that now they "will be able to defend themselves more effectively."
He also congratulated the leadership of the three states on the signing of the agreement and called it "a big, bold, and important first step."
On August 7, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a collective defense agreement in Mecca.
According to the newspaper Türkiye, this memorandum provides for cooperation in the field of intelligence sharing and the coordination of regional security. The publication notes that Turkey's accession to the system of strategic defense cooperation signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in 2025 could become an important stage in changing the balance of power in the Middle East.
