Relative of Khamenei and head of Iranian Hezbollah cell detained in Iran
In Iran, a relative of the supreme leader and head of the organization "Ansar-e Hezbollah" (the Iranian wing of Hezbollah), Mohammad Bagher Kharrazi, has been detained.
Kharrazi was detained in Qom on the basis of a ruling by the Special Clerical Court, Iranian Telegram channels report.
It is reported that he is accused of "activities directed against national security."
Earlier, Kharrazi had been summoned for questioning by the Special Clerical Court, after which a criminal case was opened against him. The reason for the prosecution was his scandalous and controversial statements regarding the authorities and the latest political processes in the country.
At this time, Iran's judicial authorities have not officially confirmed the arrest of the pro-government cleric.
Recall that earlier Kharrazi found himself at the center of public attention because of statements about the alleged resignations of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. In addition, he called the model of governance existing in the Islamic Republic "outdated" and called for a transition to an even more rigid theocratic form of government.
