FSB general commits suicide

Retired Major General Igor Laptev of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) has committed suicide in Moscow.

This was reported by the Telegram channel "MK: breaking news."

It is noted that Laptev's body was found on the afternoon of August 20 in a building on Verkhnyaya Krasnoselskaya Street. He was 83 years old.

The portal does not write why the serviceman committed suicide.

Laptev took part in combat operations in Afghanistan, then served for a long time in the FSB, dealing with information security issues. He also worked in the tax police, and in the late 1990s held the post of Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for Taxes and Levies. He subsequently became chairman of the board of directors of the Informtekhnika group of companies.

It is also known that Laptev was awarded the Order of Honor.
