Five people missing and eight injured in fire in Switzerland

Five people are missing and eight more were injured in a major fire that broke out overnight into Friday in the town of Thusis in the canton of Graubünden in eastern Switzerland.

This was stated in a statement by the cantonal police.

According to the agency, the fire started after midnight on the second floor of a building that housed a restaurant and residential premises. The building burned down completely. It is noted that due to the collapse of the stairwell, firefighters had to open up the roof using a crane.

The police specified that 14 people managed to get out of the burning building. Eight of them were injured, two are in serious condition. Five more are considered missing.

According to the report, about 100 firefighting personnel are involved in extinguishing the fire. The work is continuing. The police, together with the prosecutor's office, are determining the causes of the blaze.
