Bloggers and influencers in Azerbaijan added to tax classification - DETAILS
The State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy continues to improve digital tax administration with the aim of developing the digital economy, legalizing the activities of individuals earning income through social media platforms (bloggers and influencers), and increasing the transparency of their registration.
In recent years, the number of individuals earning income through social networks and other digital platforms via advertising, marketing, promotion of goods and services, content creation, live broadcasts, and participation in various joint projects has increased significantly. At the same time, the absence of a separate category for this type of activity in the current classification of economic activities made it difficult to register the activities of such individuals and to assess them statistically.
Taking this need into account, a new category has been added to the classification of types of activity in the registration database — «Rəqəmsal platforma təsirçisi» (Digital platform influencer) (code 6312003), 1news.az reports with reference to the State Tax Service.
This change makes it possible to register more accurately and transparently the activities of individuals earning income through social networks and other digital platforms (bloggers and influencers), to keep separate records of their economic activity, and to compile more complete statistical information.
«We recommend that taxpayers operating in this field register their activities in accordance with the requirements of the legislation and select the new activity code when registering,» the State Tax Service notes.
