Exhibition honoring Armenian separatists canceled in Paris

The official opening of an exhibition dedicated to Armenian separatists imprisoned in Azerbaijan has been canceled in Paris. The event was to take place on September 2 in the square in front of the city hall building of the French capital.

The Armenian outlet Nouvelles d'Arménie reports on the cancellation of the exhibition.

According to the outlet, the decision was made after the Azerbaijani side appealed to the French authorities. At the same time, the rally by representatives of the Armenian community, scheduled for the morning in front of Paris City Hall, will take place.

Earlier, Azerbaijan's ambassador to France, Leyla Abdullayeva, sent the mayor of Paris a letter protesting against the holding of the exhibition. The diplomat objected to former leaders of the separatist regime in Karabakh, convicted in Azerbaijan, being presented as "Armenian prisoners," and called for the decision to hold the event to be reconsidered.

Abdullayeva noted that these individuals were convicted in Azerbaijan of grave crimes, including war crimes, crimes against humanity, and terrorism. According to her, holding such an event in Paris does not correspond to the current agenda of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

The exhibition was scheduled for the period from August 31 to September 4, and its official opening was to be held on September 2.
