Traffic to be restricted on a number of roads in Baku due to the IRONMAN 70.3 competition — DETAILS
In connection with the holding of the international competition "Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku" in Baku, and in order to ensure safety and the organized conduct of the event, temporary traffic restrictions will be introduced on some streets and avenues of the city on September 4 and 5.
The restrictions will begin to be introduced in stages on September 4 at 9:00 p.m. and will remain in effect until 4:00 p.m. on September 5, 1news.az reports, citing the operating company Baku City Circuit.
On the Baku-Alat-Gazakh-Georgian border highway (M2), starting from the interchange near the Heydar Aliyev Baku Deepwater Jackets Plant, from the 25th kilometer of the road, one lane will be allocated for vehicles traveling from the opposite direction in order to ensure movement in the opposite direction.
In addition, in the direction of the Lokbatan roundabout, one traffic lane will be allocated for public transport vehicles.
On the Baku-Alat highway (M3), in the direction of the Lokbatan roundabout, traffic will be restricted from the 14th kilometer toward the city center up to the roundabout opposite the "Sheraton Baku Intourist" hotel.
As an alternative route, drivers will be able to use the Baku-Alat highway (M3) in the Lokbatan–Bayil direction.
The restrictions will be in effect during the stage of preparation for the competition — from 9:00 p.m. on September 4 until 4:59 a.m. on September 5, and during the main stage of the competition — from 5:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
After the competition ends, in connection with cleanup and restoration work being carried out in the area, the traffic restrictions will be extended from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on September 5.
Drivers and other road users are asked to plan their routes in advance for the specified dates, to take into account possible congestion in the listed directions, and to use alternative roads.
Note that more than 1,500 athletes from 62 countries are expected to take part in the "Alufar IRONMAN 70.3 Baku" competition, which will be held on September 5 in the capital of Azerbaijan.
