Azerbaijan Airlines and Maldivian Announce Strategic Partnership

Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL), part of AZCON Holding, has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Maldivian, the national carrier of the Maldives.

The cooperation will expand travel opportunities to the Maldives for AZAL passengers, according to 1news.az, citing the airline’s press service.

Under the agreement, AZAL passengers arriving at Velana International Airport (MLE) will be able to continue their journeys to 17 domestic destinations through Maldivian’s extensive internal network. The partnership is designed to strengthen bilateral ties while promoting aviation and tourism. It also broadens AZAL’s route network, making the Maldives more accessible to travelers.

It opens new opportunities for passengers from Azerbaijan and neighboring countries, bringing the Maldives—one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations—closer than ever. We are confident that this agreement will lay a strong foundation for further cooperation between our airlines,” said Jamil Manizade, AZAL’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Maldivian is the Maldives’ leading airline, operating flights to 17 domestic airports as well as to India, China, and several other international destinations. The carrier also operates seaplane services, ensuring seamless connections across the islands.
