Putin carries out reshuffle in the army's leadership

President Vladimir Putin held a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, during which he announced a number of personnel decisions, Vedomosti reports.

The changes affected the structure of arms and logistics management: new commanders of the "Center" and "East" groupings were appointed, and the head of the drone systems troops being formed was determined.

Putin said that the Ministry of Defense is completing the concentration in one set of hands of all matters related to weapons. Earlier, Alexander Sanchik, who previously commanded one of the groupings, was appointed deputy defense minister for this area.

Now, according to a similar principle, a position has been created that unites all logistics services. Valery Solodchuk has been appointed responsible for this area.

Andrei Ivanaev, who previously headed the "East" grouping, has been assigned to command the "Center" grouping.

Pyotr Bolgarev, chief of staff of the "East" grouping, has been appointed acting commander of that grouping.

Putin recalled the decision to create a new branch of the armed forces — the drone systems troops. Denis Lyamin, who until recently held the position of chief of staff of the "Center" grouping, has been assigned to head this area.
