"Tisza" proposes holding an election for Hungary's new president on August 11

Hungary's ruling party "Tisza" has proposed that parliament hold an election for the country's new president on August 11, according to a document published on the parliament's website.

"We propose scheduling the election of the president of the republic for August 11, 2026," says the statement submitted by the "Tisza" party addressed to the acting speaker of Hungary's parliament, Anikó Nagy Hallerné, and signed by 43 deputies led by the country's Prime Minister Péter Magyar.
