Iran will support any decision by Hamas in talks with Israel
Iran is ready to agree with any decision by the Palestinian movement Hamas in the talks with Israel on settling the situation in the Gaza Strip.
This was stated by the republic's president, Masoud Pezeshkian, in a telephone conversation with the head of the movement's political bureau, Khalil al-Hayya, the IRNA agency reports.
"Iran will support any initiatives and decisions that the Palestinian leaders take in the talks," the president said.
Pezeshkian added that one of the key tasks of Iran's foreign policy remains the resolution of the Palestinian question.
In July, a source in Hamas told Reuters that under the draft agreement on the Gaza Strip, heavy weapons would be stored and kept under the control of the Palestinian administration only, and that these weapons could not be handed over to Israel. In addition, Hamas demands that Israel stop attacks on Gaza and withdraw its troops. It is noted that the Israeli side was "very skeptical" about this plan. Questions also arose about how long this process would take.
