Iran and Oman agree on parameters of new shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz
Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on the geographic characteristics of a shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said that Tehran and Muscat are in the final stage of preparing a joint statement on the agreement reached, Al Jazeera reports.
According to him, the agreement will be officially announced provided that "certain third parties do not interfere in the process."
It was previously reported that the countries are jointly developing a new central route through the Strait of Hormuz that will serve the interests of both sides. After it opens, the northern and southern routes are planned to be closed.
