Production begins on sequel to Michael Jackson biopic
After the tremendous success of the biographical film "Michael," dedicated to the life of Michael Jackson, Lionsgate studio has confirmed plans to create a sequel.
According to Variety, production of "Michael 2" could begin in late 2026 or early 2027. The company also hinted that the premiere of the second part will tentatively take place in 2028, although an exact date has not yet been announced.
The decision to launch the sequel was a logical one following the impressive commercial success of the first film. "Michael" became one of Lionsgate's most profitable projects and helped the studio significantly improve its financial performance.
At this time, details of the second part's plot are not being disclosed. There have also been no reports of changes to the cast, however, the story is expected to continue telling of Michael Jackson's life and creative journey.
