Azerbaijan may get its own Formula 1 driver - VIDEO
Davin Jafarov, a 16-year-old Azerbaijani racing driver who specializes in karting and is moving into formula racing, has recorded a video message about the search for sponsors to continue his professional career, which he posted on the social network Instagram.
«First of all, I want to apologize to you for not being able to speak our native Azerbaijani language fluently. I was born in Italy and spent most of my life in European countries and the Arab Emirates. Some of you already know me. Many people write to me on social media, rejoice at my successes and support me. And for this I thank each of you from the bottom of my heart» - notes D. Jafarov.
The racing driver emphasizes that he decided to record the video for a special reason: «For several years I have worked hard at professional karting. I took part in international competitions and competed at the world championship, achieving high results. I managed to attract certain attention in the world of motorsport. Thanks to my successful performances in karting, teams competing in formula series have already become interested in me. The tests in a Formula 4 car, which took place in Portugal, became a very important stage for me».
D. Jafarov says that he had the chance to compete in events where such teams as Red Bull, McLaren, MP Motorsport, Van Amersfoort Racing and others were represented: «Today I am already a driver ready to compete in FIA Formula 4 competitions. But motorsport is arranged in such a way that this sport requires very large financial expenses. Unfortunately, due to the lack of sponsorship support, I cannot take part in competitions to which I have officially received an invitation. For me this is a very difficult situation».
The racing driver says that in order to reach this level, he and his family worked hard for many years and, to the extent of their abilities, covered the related financial expenses on their own: «Now I face a choice: either to continue on this path, or, in the absence of financial support, to be forced to stop it. But I do not want my path to end here. That is why I am appealing to wealthy entrepreneurs, companies and potential sponsors of Azerbaijan with a request».
«Motorsport is not only a sport, but also a major international platform. It creates great opportunities for raising the recognition and image of our country, as well as for business development. I will be able to continue on this path only if there is stable and long-term sponsorship support. If I receive support on this path, I am confident that in the coming years I will be able to rise to the level of Formula 2, and then Formula 1. My age and potential allow me to count on this» - Davin Jafarov continues.
According to the racing driver, one of my great advantages is also that he now lives in Portugal: «Here, as well as in neighboring Spain, there is all the necessary infrastructure for practicing motorsport. Race tracks, opportunities for training, preparation on simulators - all of this is part of my daily preparation. I promise that I will justify the trust placed in me with my work and results, and will worthily represent our country on the international stage. I very much need your support and your belief in me».
