Alexander Sharovsky's voice once again sounded from the stage of the Russian Drama Theater - VIDEO

The Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun held the opening of its 106th theatrical season, during which the memory of People's Artist of Azerbaijan Alexander Sharovsky was honored.

«I imagined the opening of this theatrical season differently. Many of you know that on September 9, Alexander Yakovlevich Sharovsky passed away. A man who for many decades devoted his life to serving theatrical art, whose name is inseparably linked with the history of our theater. We are opening today's season with his production as well, based on the play by Mirza Fatali Akhundzade «Monsieur Jordan, the Botanist, and Dervish Mastalishah, the Famous Sorcerer», said Oleg Amirbekov, Honored Artist and director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater, at the opening of the 106th theatrical season.

O. Amirbekov noted that «every year Alexander Yakovlevich came out onto this stage and greeted the audience, and announced the opening of a new theatrical season»: «It seemed very fitting to me that today, in tribute to tradition, we would all together hear his voice once again».

After that, A. Sharovsky's voice was heard: «It is the most honorable mission at the beginning of the season to announce this to the audience. And with every year my excitement grows more and more and more. The stage, on the one hand, heals; on the other hand, the stage takes away all your health. It takes away all your spirit. It takes away your fantasies. Every day when I leave home, I thank God that all is well with my family and loved ones. And every time I come to the theater, I pray to God that everything will be fine with us. And that my second family, my dear colleagues, the actors, and all the theater workers will be happy and healthy. That is why with special excitement I declare our next season open».

Let us recall that on September 9, at the age of 78, Alexander Sharovsky, director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun and People's Artist of Azerbaijan, passed away.

Let us note that since 1976 A. Sharovsky was an actor at the aforementioned theater, where he created more than 50 characters, and from 1978 to 1990 he was an assistant director, from June 11, 1991 - a staging director, and from February 3, 1993 to 2026 - chief director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater named after Samad Vurgun, where he staged more than 50 productions.
