Azerbaijani sailors urged to avoid voyages to combat zones
The State Maritime and Port Agency stated that it is deeply shocked by reports received in recent months about the deaths of Azerbaijani sailors working on vessels under the flags of various states in foreign waters.
«We express our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased sailors, wish them strength and patience, and mercy from the Almighty to the deceased themselves,» the state agency said in its address.
Taking into account the high level of security threats, especially in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas, as well as in the area of the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf, the state agency urged Azerbaijani sailors to put their lives and health above all else.
Sailors are advised to carefully assess existing risks before agreeing to voyages to combat zones or areas where active military operations are underway, to take into account warnings and recommendations from official bodies on security issues, and, if possible, to refrain from such voyages.
In addition, the state agency appealed to shipping companies and relevant structures to consider the lives and safety of sailors a priority, to take all necessary security measures when sending crews to regions with high military risk, and, if possible, to avoid using such routes.
«We urge all sailors to exercise maximum caution, take care of their own safety and the safety of their families, and also stay away from zones of armed conflicts,» the address emphasizes.
