Closure of Baku University for Girls: what will happen to the teaching staff
“More than 110 people were engaged in teaching activities at the Baku University for Girls. More than half of the individuals involved in teaching do not hold an academic degree.”
As 1news.az reports, this was announced by the Ministry of Science and Education.
“At the same time, for most of them, other higher education institutions are their primary place of work. For this reason, the suspension of the university's educational activities will not result in the loss of their primary place of work. As for the university's full-time employees, they may apply for available vacant positions at other educational institutions. The Ministry of Science and Education, for its part, will send a corresponding recommendation to the relevant universities,” the statement notes.
Let us note that at the meeting of the Accreditation Council held on July 10, 2026, the final evaluation reports on the institutional and program accreditation of the Baku University for Girls, prepared by the relevant Accreditation Commissions, were discussed. By Order No. 92 of July 30, 2026, the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan “On Licenses and Permits,” annulled License No. EL-358/2018 of September 11, 2018, issued to the Baku University for Girls.
