Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son officially drops his father's last name
The eldest son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, 25-year-old Maddox Chivan, has officially dropped his father's last name.
As 1news.az reports citing People, a Los Angeles court granted Maddox's petition to change his last name. His official name is now Maddox Chivan Jolie, without the last name Pitt.
Maddox filed the corresponding petition with the court in May 2026. After the petition was approved, the name change became official. It is noted that Maddox had already been using his mother's last name in his professional work. In particular, he worked as an assistant director on the film "Couture," in which Angelina Jolie starred.
Maddox became the second child of Jolie and Pitt to officially drop their father's last name. In 2024, their daughter Shiloh also petitioned the court to remove the last name Pitt from her name. After the petition was approved, she officially became Shiloh Jolie.
It was previously reported that two more children of the former couple — Zahara and Vivienne — are also taking steps to drop the last name Pitt.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt began dating in 2005 and married in 2014. The former spouses have six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. Their divorce proceedings lasted several years and were officially concluded in December 2024.
