The updated 100-manat banknote will enter circulation on July 15.
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) Director General Rashad Mamedov told Trend.
According to him, the CBA informs the population in advance about the issuance of updated banknotes and any changes in their design through the official website and the bank's social media pages.
"One of the latest changes was the issuance of the updated 50-manat banknote in December last year. The release of the updated 100-manat banknote is scheduled for July 15 this year," noted R. Mamedov.
He also said that, according to the bank's analysis, most cases of banknote counterfeiting are carried out using primitive methods - color copying or scanning. Such counterfeit bills are easily detected by both bank employees and special equipment.
According to the CBA Director General, thanks to the high technical characteristics of national banknotes and reliable security elements, their counterfeiting level remains significantly lower than that of many leading world currencies and currencies of neighboring countries.
